Horrible Graphics Results Using SPECapc

Horrible Graphics Results Using SPECapc

We have four XI workstations that are exactly the same.  The same video cards and CPU, etc.  When I perform the SPECapc benchmark test on all of them they all average 300 seconds.  One of the WStations however results in 1400 seconds, most of that time falling under the graphics section of the test.  Any idea what could be causing such a horrible graphics benchmark?

RE: Horrible Graphics Results Using SPECapc

Are all cards set to the SW application?

It could be faulty VC onboard RAM. To test whether it is the card causing the slowdown, switch it with another computer and re-run the benchmark on each.

If everything looks identical from one system to the other, it's probably time to contact Xi and see what they think.  I've always had stellar service with them in the past.

I ended up moving the video card to another xi box.  The graphics problem did not go with it.

At one time this WS in question had a dual monitor set-up which is no longer the case.  Could this be the cause?  Maybe there are some settings that should have been changed back after we dropped the second display?

RE: Horrible Graphics Results Using SPECapc

Simply moving the card doesn't necessarily prove/disprove anything. Assuming that the WS you moved the GC to already had had a similar card in it, then it would have also already had the settings.
As Jeff, CBL and I talked about, what are the settings for the graphic card driver on the affected work station? Is it using an approved driver?

Well, actually, moving the card proves that bad onboard RAM, or other components on the card itself, are not the cause of the slowdown.

cheers
