API %CT J55 to ASTM A??? Cross Reference

API %CT J55 to ASTM A??? Cross Reference

API %CT J55 to ASTM A??? Cross Reference

(OP)
This may be a simple question but it has me stumped.  I am trying to find the equivalent ASTM Axxx number for API tubing/casing (eg:5CT J55).  Does an equivalent ASTM number exist?  I have reviewed the API specs I have and found no such cross reference.

The reason I ask is that I am trying to find the allowable stress on a piece of surface casing (related to Casing/Wellhead Max Stress thread in same forum).  For allowable stress API refers to ASME BPVC Section VIII which only lists allowable stress numbers for ASTM materials and API 5L, but no API 5CT.  If I had a cross reference from API to ASTM I'd be in business.  I can guess but I'd rather not.....I'd like to understand the proper usage of the codes.  Your advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You

cnuk - me again, roadapple.

API 5CT to ASTM - I have found the API Grades (typically the 4130/4140 customized) don't mesh with the strict ASME list.

However, if you are looking for the allowable stress - 10.12.2 says that the test pressure is not to exceed 80% of the specified minimum yield.  The formula looks to be like the Barlowe formula.

You might look on API 5C3.
