Breaker isolators

Breaker isolators

(OP)
Hello,

I would like to ask what is the technical name of those separation plates some installations put between the terminals of a circuit breaker? their purpose is to increase the safety of something interconnecting two adjacent terminals together.

What about any normative requirements for their installation? I see panel boards who have them and other panel boards who does not, is there a Code that governs this issue?

RE: Breaker isolators

I've seen them referred to as 'phase barriers' or 'inter-pole barriers' depending on the breaker manufacturer.  But I don't know what codes call for their use.

I found a manufacturer's recommendation to use them where there is a dust problem or voltage is above 690V.

But nothing about Code requirements.
