pan on draft

pan on draft

(OP)
Hi here's one that just popped into my head.

Has anyone managed to figure out a way to pan around a draft drawing with the middle mouse button or something as quick?

Not the most serious problem in the world but would like to know if you can.

thanks

RE: pan on draft

The method I used before getting a SpaceNavigator was to use Ctrl + Shift + RMB, works rather well. If I'm after speed then I still use this method.

RE: pan on draft

In draft :
CTRL + RMB = Zoom
CTRL+SHIFT + RMB = Pan
ALT + RMB = Zoom Area

RE: pan on draft

hold down on the CTL + Shift + Right Click then move your mouse. this will pan you around.

RE: pan on draft

Got a SpaceNavigator as well, looks like a gizmo but it's actually quite useful. Say m4rc, do you have problems with yours? My device always loses the right button mapping (which I configured for a zoom fit) in the sketch environment (in either part or assembly).

I haven't had the time to reinstall the driver to see if it solves the problem...

RE: pan on draft

Gemnoc, Yep the navigator doe have a habbit of deciding to forget what the buttons are meant to be doing. If you click on the icon in the taskbar you'll probably find that it has moved to a different setting in the drop down at the top.

I have my buttons set to Shift and Ctrl, so I can pan and zoom far quicker than when using the navigator...

RE: pan on draft

That's the thing, when I open the config window, it shows the mapping fine. As I said, it looses its mapping 99% of the time in sketch only, which is unnerving.

But it's still quite useful. After a few months of use, I'm now able to go select a tool on the toolbar with the mouse at the same time as I rotate the model's view to where I need it to be. Which, according to an opinion on Amazon.com criticizing the SpaceNavigator, "is impossible". LOL.

RE: pan on draft

I'm trying to insert image into sketch mode but doesen't happen nothing except white rectangular field. Switched the color, transparancy and opacity nothing again. I'm working with Solid Edge V15

RE: pan on draft

Gemnoc, I have read thru the update details of the latest driver for the space navigator and they might have sorted the problem. I'm on 3.4.2 at the moment, just got to get IT to instal. it... [sigh]

If the latest version does sort the problem then I'll assign the two key to control and shift to use for panning and fast zooming.

RE: pan on draft

Thanks for the heads up, m4rc. I'll download the driver and see if it solves the problem.

Working for a small company has its perks: the IT guy's office is besides mine. I bugged him so much that he created me an administrator account (working only on my station though) so I can install anything I need myself and no wait after him.

I worked at home this Thursday so I could get more job done. It worked, but I missed my SpaceNavigator. I think I'll buy the SpaceNavigator Personal Edition for myself...
