carbon fibre look onto plastic part

carbon fibre look onto plastic part

carbon fibre look onto plastic part

i have an injection molding and im looking to have it made to look like carbon fibre.

are there many options to make it look like carbon fibre.
currently i have found immersion graphics as my only option??

RE: carbon fibre look onto plastic part

I'm >>guessing<< you could texture the appropriate surfaces with a deep glass cloth texture, mold it in black resin or paint it black, then apply a thick coat of clear paint or resin.  ... probably a lot more expensive than a layer of preprinted film.

Does the whole part need to look like carbon fiber or just certain areas?  In-mold decorating may be an option if only portions of the part need this appearance.

RE: carbon fibre look onto plastic part

(OP)
not the whole piece, i only require the front face to be carbon look.

i looked at in mold decoration and it seems to be more expensive than immersion

RE: carbon fibre look onto plastic part

Is the part design such that a label would do the trick?

RE: carbon fibre look onto plastic part

(OP)
multiple planes, and multiple surfaces, a label would not fit.

Some labels can be stretched over compound curves.  You should talk to someone who makes them before ruling them out.

would stretching the label still keep true to a carbon fibre look?? ill look into it.

RE: carbon fibre look onto plastic part

arbon fibre fabric also distorts a bit as you draw it over compound curves.
