Forming - Joggle Tonnage Calculation

Forming - Joggle Tonnage Calculation

(OP)
Does anyone have an calculation to estimate the tonnage required to form a joggle or offset bend in sheet metal? Most texts will give an estimate between 3 - 6x the tonnage for air bending?

RE: Forming - Joggle Tonnage Calculation

A good starting point is

Length of form (mm) X Material thickness (mm) X tensile strength (kg/mm2) X .4

This will give you an answer in kg.

If you start introducing any coining the value will soon shoot up.
