Stator Over Voltage Production

Stator Over Voltage Production

Stator Over Voltage Production

(OP)
Question:

What would cause a stator to overproduce output voltage? i.e. CMM requirements of 30-34 V RMS vs. Actuals of 35 volts RMS. This is being seen on units coming in from the field and I would think they would under produce after a lenghty time on wing.

RE: Stator Over Voltage Production

There aren't a lot of "systems" guys to reply to your question.  I don't have any bright ideas, either, and there isn't a lot of information to start with in your post.  For a start, is there a field winding stimulating this generator?  Is that working within limits?  Also, where is the measurement taken?  If you're measuring voltage and referring to VRMS, then are you on the AC side?  What kind of airplane are we dealing with?
