Old steel - Uranus R1

Old steel - Uranus R1

(OP)
I have an old engineering drawing that refers to Uranus R1. Can anyone identify this or point me in the right direction? I understand that the Uranus brand name was used by Creusot Loire Industries in France but the company folded in 1984.

RE: Old steel - Uranus R1

well more like it was absorbed or merged.  The Uranus trade names are still used.  That said I don't remember R1.
If no one else answers I'll check tomorrow when I am in the office.

RE: Old steel - Uranus R1

I checked Woldman's 5th edition and could not find an R1 designation, only an F1 from a Hidalgo Steel in New York.

Maybe a more recent Woldman's includes an R1.

RE: Old steel - Uranus R1

My Woldman's only lists Uranus R3 which is now listed as ZCR157, which is a 15% Cr, 7% Ni, 2.2% Mo precipitation hardening stainless steel.
