error on .igs import that says........

Im getting this error when trying to import translated data from customers (.igs, .stp, ect.) "I-DEAS does not support spaces in file names". but, there are no spaces. This is a new intall of I-deas nx v12. My os is xp home.
Can anyone help, I-deas will be useless to me without the import option.

Thanks,
T

RE: error on .igs import that says........

Make sure that the entire path of the file doesn't contain space. Ex: c:/program files/aaaa/part.igs

Hey thanks very much for your response. I just discovered the solution. I created a C: path directory without spaces and that worked. You can't use "MY DOCUMENTS". This must be a tag along bug from an older UNIX version. As if I-deas isn't buggy enough.

Thanks again,
T

RE: error on .igs import that says........

I wouldn't call it a bug...it's just something inherited from the UNIX days.  UG used to be the exact same way on a Windoze platform.  Best advice I can offer is to get used to putting underscores in place of spaces for all file and folder names.
