Currently we are securing ferrite cores used in transformer/inductors assemblies with fixed brackets.  The problem is that due to temperature changes the ferrite cores are cracking because of the differences in the coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) between the ferrite material and the brackets.  My idea (good or bad?) is to use a spring-loaded fastener to secure the assemblies.  I've worked with belleville washers and some other flexible fasterners, but I don't have a good idea on how to approach this problem for shock and vibration.  My guess would be to take the mass of the assembly under the worst acceleration condition and use that as the effective force that the spring needs to resist.

Any pointers in the right direction is greatly appreciated.
