Background Mask on Text

Background Mask on Text

(OP)
I use a couple of different versions (2005 LT, 2006 full etc) and I cannot find a way to default the Text background mask to be on automatically.

It seems that I have to select the text that I want to have the backgound mask on and right click> background etc.  If there are more required then I match properties.  This is rather tedious if you have dims with diffent properties, and different orientation leaders etc.

Is there a way that the Background mask can be set to be on as standard?

Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.
