EMC

EMC

(OP)
I'm a mechanical engineer and now I work with EMC company. I would like to get information about EMC but I don't know how I should start because I only learn for basic electrical engineer. Could anybody give your advise to me?

Thanks a lot!

RE: EMC

You could try getting a book on the subject. I searched  Amazon.com for books on "emc" and got a list, including Introduction to Emc by John S. Scott, Clinton Van Zyl, Clinton Van Zyl. I don't know how good this is. You could try a large technical bookshop, but the subject is fairly specialised and they may not stock it.

Why not go to your local library and borrow the above book, or another introductory book, on an inter-library loan? It will probably cost only $1 or so, and you can see whether the book is any good and then buy it if necessary. You could try asking your company or your department to purchase the book for their library once you've found a good, relevant book.

RE: EMC

Suggested Literature:
1. C. R. Paul "Introduction to Electromagnetic Compatibility." John Wiley & Sons, Inc., 1992
2. Tihanyi L. "Electromagnetic Compatibility in Power Electronics." IEEE Press, 1995
If you can wait a few months there will be a new publication by author: Weston through Marcel Dekker, Inc. Publisher.

RE: EMC

There are some good books out there on EMC but one of the best introductions I have seen is a course given by HP (I believe it's called EMC guidelines) which starts right at the beginning with the what's and how's and moves on to some fairly in depth stuff to do with PCB layout and high frequency designs. If you can get hold of these notes or even better get on the course you'll be starting in the right place because it becomes confusing very quickly.
Good luck nowhere_city

RE: EMC

What do you mean by EMC? Encapsulated Micro Circuits?

Don Leffingwell

RE: EMC

Try "Noise Reduction Techniques in Electronic Systems". Henry W. Ott, 2 Edition, Wiley Publishing. This book was recommended to me and it is a good study and reference book on the problem. Bill Bernhart.

William H. Bernhart, P.E.

I work as a development engineer for AMP - Tyco Electronics located near Harrisburg, PA. I help design interconnections and electrical connectors for aerospace applications.
