I have to run a welding procedure as per Sec IX. MAterial is SS 304 with Solution annealing.Thickness of the coupon will be 1/2" plate. Can someone recommend the solution annealing time and temperature cycle.

RE: SS Welding Procedure

Yes. Go to the appropriate ASME Material specification for this grade and look up the minimum solution annealing temperature. The time is based on thickness, typically 1 hour inch, and for thickness less than 1 inch, it will be between 15-45 minutes.

Solution annealing to be done at 1035C (1900F) with a rapid quench.

Heating rate as quick as possible, step of 30 minutes at 1035ÂșC followed of rapid cooling.
