Joint Restraint Cost

Joint Restraint Cost

Joint Restraint Cost

(OP)
I am looking at restraining some push on pipe as part of a water main relay.  The purpose of the restraint is to minimize the number of businesses that will be shut down as connections are made - in other words, the ability to connect onto a valve that is under pressure but restrained on the other side of the connection work.

Any idea of the extra cost associated with such restraints?  I imagine a megalug type bell clamp would be used.  The pipe will be 16" ductile iron.  I am assuming that the restrained portions will cost another 5-10% above the standard unrestrained portions.

RE: Joint Restraint Cost

I 've used their product on PVC-although not their ductile restraint. This company has a solution for your application , I believe.

RE: Joint Restraint Cost

On a recent project we got a price from the contractor of ~$230 for the restraint and $150 to install per restraint.  This was for 16" DR25 PVC pipe.  The restraints were the megalug type.  I don't know if the ductile iron restraints have a price difference.

As "waterworker" says EBBA Iron has some good info. Check out their "EBAA Iron Retrained Length Calculator". You may only have to restrain the 40/60 feet connecting to the valve.

I budget a 50% increase on DI pipe material costs for supply with restrained joints.
