Error: The system is low on memory???

Hi
I am getting a message that my system is running low on memory when I load an assembly (size: 170 mb and 2417 parts).
And doesn't SE v20 run on an dual core processor???
My system is: Intel core 2 CPU 6600 @ 2.4 GHz
NVIDIA Quadro FX 1500

RE: Error: The system is low on memory???
when running V20, you might also be running Vista..?? Setting Vista to best performance will make things run lot faster.
This assembly, are there in total 2417 parts in it? How many unique parts does it contain?
Last thing, Solid Edge does not use dual cores of processors. The only advantage you have is that Solid Edge uses one core, all other programs use the other core...

RE: Error: The system is low on memory???
I'm not running Vista, just XP. And the assembly has 298 unique parts.
RE: Error: The system is low on memory???
We sometimes get the same message on large assemblies and our multicore 'super computer' hasn't really helped.
Are you opening the model with everything hidden, or at least a configuration with only some stuff shown.
Also, not sure if it's related but supposedly it's a good idea to reboot your machine at lunch time or something as well as end of the day to clear out memory.
KENAT, probably the least qualified checker you'll ever meet...
RE: Error: The system is low on memory???
I will try this
maybe is useful for you
I dont't know how much RAM have in computer but when you don't have enough windows is taken the rest from your hard disk .
You can change virtual memorie from :
my computer - properties -advance tab -performans-setting-advence- virtual memorie change.
hope you can use some of this information

RE: Error: The system is low on memory???
low on memory means here the application has nearly consumed
all the available address space. This has nothing to do with
your installed RAM.
When not already done insert the /3GB switch into your
boot.ini. To be on the safe side also insert the USERVA=2800
switch which limits the usable address space to 2800MB = 2,8GB.
The /3GB switch will extent the usable address space for any
running application to approx. 2.96GB without that switch it's
approx. 1.9GB
When the boot.ini already contains the /3GB switch you're screwed
and the only thing seems to be: upgrade to 64BIT OS *and* 64BIT
SE
SE has not enough asynchronous tasks to really exploit
a dual core chip. The OS, however, will run on the second
core in case it acts on behalf of SE (open, looking for
files, etc.)

I think donyoung solution is the best around here.
Thank you
I was thinling wrong about what causes this.
