Use real image in render

Use real image in render

(OP)

Hello there!

This might be a trivial issue but somehow I am unable to find a solution.

I have a room modelled, and I would like to add a "window" to it... a cut in the wall that contains a jpg of a scenery.

I've tried applying an image to the sketch. This works fine, but doesn't show when rendered in PhotoWorks.

I've tried creating a decal but it comes out blurry and too dark.

Any suggestions would be very much appreciated!

RE: Use real image in render

Use the Decal feature in PhotoWorks to add the image to the surface.

Thank you both for a quick reply!

@Theophilus:
I believe I've tried what you are suggesting. However, I'll try again later and if unsuccessfull will post the proceedings. I'm probably missing something...

@Rockguy:
Image resolution is even higher than the final rendered image resolution, so I don't believe it to be an issue.  Having said that, I apparently might have a problem with creating decals. It asks me for an image and for the image mask. Since it is not a logo that can be easily masked but a landscape, how does one define a mask for such an image? Could this be the problem why the image is blurry?
I will try your illumination tip, sounds promising! :)

RE: Use real image in render

When you select an image file for a decal in the property manager there is a section for image mask.  Just be sure you have "No Mask" selected and follow Rob's advice about lighting.  You should be golden.
