Gas spill prevention/recovery

Gas spill prevention/recovery

Has anyone come across designs that would prevent a gas spill from entering their storm system?  Say you're building a new gas station and you are in a water recharge area, and your review agencey requires some "design" that would prevent a gas spill from getting into your catch basins that lead to your on-site swm pond.  Are there separators, etc. that could be installed on-line in your storm system?  Another scenario would be some sort of municipal airport that has several different filling stations and each one would need to be locally protected prior to entering the storm system, if such a spill would occur.

Any suggestions would be appreciated and helpful.

These are fairly common at airports and military installations. I've seen a few at stream crossings as well. EPA has a spill-prevention/cleanup program (I get newsletters from EPA on this about every 3 months). Have you tried searching for any DoD or EPA documents on this?

Thanks.  I did search the DoD and only found handling type documents but nothing from an application point for installation.  I didn't search an EPA engine yet, I'll look there.

I am hoping someone who has actually spec'd some sort of system like this will be able to pinpoint something.
