Inconel Turning

Inconel Turning

(OP)
I am using coated CNGP432 inserts (coated-KC5010, KC730, etc from Kenametal) for machining jet engine casings which are thin-walled.

* DOCs are never more than .050"
* the surface is nearly always pre-turned.
* Work pieces are large and fabricated from inconel sheets. * Wall thickness is around 0.125-0.250".
* Dimentional accuracies are normally within +/-.001".

My priority is reducing the purchase cost while retaining the toollife.

Shouldn't I be using ground, uncoated, positive geometry inserts with grades like K313(Kennametal), IC07 & IC20(Iscar)?
