Maximum Pressure on Walls

Maximum Pressure on Walls

Maximum Pressure on Walls

(OP)
I'm trying to determine how much pressure a wall withstand.

There are fire protection agents that when released introduce a gas that's equal to 40% of the room volume and therefor need pressure relief vents to prevent damage to walls.

The size of the opening is based on the discharge rate of the agent and is plugged into the hydraulic calculation program for the suppression system piping network.  The number plugged into the program is usually 5lbs/sq. ft., which I've been advised is based on typical sheet rock construction.

Does anyone know where this could possible have come from (building codes?).

A current project I'm working on is a portable building with an outer steel wall.  I'm trying to find resources to educate me on what type of wall construction would with stand how much pressure?

RE: Maximum Pressure on Walls

What is the "outer steel wall" construction?

Lightweightt steel studs with drywall? Steel frame with "wrinkled tin"? Steel frame with masonry or precast?

The current project is steel frame with "wrinkled tin" however I'm interested in information that will aid me in understanding not just this particular situation but other situations that I run across.
