Hello All,

I would like your advice. What is the tolerance of fit between bolt and hole (dia:48mm) for flange coupling between tail and intermediate shaft?

I've checked the drawings and ANSI and I found differnet values.

Is it permited for cooling fitted bolts to be smaller 1/100mm from the hole?

Do you have any othe records for similar or bigger couplings?

Some of the MIL specs would insist on reaming holes in mating components as an assembly to achieve 0.0005" ( one half thousandth) maximum clearance for coupling bolts.  Slight interference is preferred.

While its nice to have the assurance of all the bolts picking up the load, actually  achieving that in a multi-bolt universe is REAL tough.

I like carefully torqued, manufactured (thick-enough flanges nice flat surfaces), and dimensioned bolted joints that rely on friction to keep things in place.  If it's good enough for the crank flange of a Chrysler hemi its good enough for me
