Federal Pacific Electrical LV Switchgear CB
Federal Pacific Electrical LV Switchgear CB
(OP)
Many of the local wheat terminals in Vancouver, Canada have the old Federal Pacific Electrical LV CB. They are typically models: FPE 50H-2 with PA relays as well as I see many FPE 100HF-1 models.

I have no idea what happened to Federal Pacific Electrical, did they get baught out, or went bankrupt? Does anyone know the history behind this company.
I want technical information (including dimensions) for these models. Again, would anyone know where to acquire this info?

I don't know much about their history or where they are today but the equipment we have appears to be metal-clad housing designed around a Brush Electric (UK) breaker.

I called Schneider, and they said they don't know. They don't have information of Circuit Breakers from Federal Pacific. Federal Pioneer was baught out from scheinder.
http:
But then this link says Federal Pioneer is the same as Federal Pacific. http://www.inspect-ny.com/fpe/schneider.htm
I did try a google search on Cemco with Federal Pacific, and there wasn't anything. Is Federal Pacific, federal pioneer and American the same company? Does anyone know who is Cemco?
I have no clue and it is hard to find info on this CB. Turns out Federal got sued for the Stab-lok residential The problem is that I see these CD all over the place in Vancouver and I want to get reference info about them.

You can find at the following link information about their current H-3 breakers.
http:
On Schneider website, you also have this 1968 Federal Pacific of Canada catalogue where they sell those H-2 breakers that you have.
ht
Schneider should be able to give you some infos about H-2 and the older H-1 breakers.

FPE never really made anything the same way twice. Even if you obtain documentation you would be well advised to perform a field check prior to committing to an outage or purchasing replacement parts or upgrades. I have seen entire MV line ups of breakers with consecutive serial numbers be totally different from each other. Adds an entirely new dimension to "Made on a Monday"
I have retrofitted a few of the larger fused units like yours with solid state trip units over the years. Satin American will have the information or parts you need. There was/is a bunch of FPE products on the East Coast (USA) so they have been involved with FPE since the start. I know they have a line to FPE Canada as they have helped me in the past.

What do you want to do with them?

Dpmac well first I wanted to become familiar with these type of CB, and I wanted to know the characteristics of the PA relay. Just for my building experience curiosity.
Lmbt... THANKS! Exactly what I was looking for. I'll print off the info and read. I think I was looking at too specific part numbers when doing my search so I was turning up blanks. However, I did call Schneider and they couldn't help me. This is why I love this website. You have great people that enjoy engineering as much as I do. Appreciate it! Thanks again. :)
RE: Federal Pacific Electrical LV Switchgear CB
I did a search on 'FPE', 'FPE Catalogue', 'H-3', 'H-2', and 'Federal Pioneer Catalogue' on Schneider's website. It wouldn't come up.
RE: Federal Pacific Electrical LV Switchgear CB
Go to Schneider electric Canada (not the US site ".com")
http://www.schneider-electric.ca
Click on technical library on the left and then keyword search:
Federal pacific yields you Catalogues from 1962 to 1968 and
the Type H Air circuit Breakers I was looking for
Keyword search on Federal Pioneer catalogue will yield you as well the 1976 and 1978 Catalogue as well.
Easy when you know where it is. :)
