Points Representing Deviation - Pictures Given
Points Representing Deviation - Pictures Given
(OP)
Hi,
This is in refererenc to my orginal, "Extracting Points for Standard Deviation" posting.
I uploaded a MS Word file with a handful of pics to better explain on what I'm trying to accomplish.
As you should see from the pictures, there's a handful points that should be along the face of the profile that it outlines.
I'm trying to determine if each of these points are actualy on the face & if the are not, what distance does it deviate from it.
With collected data, I will probably calculate the standard deviation.
Please suggest methods to produce accurate results.
Thanks

RE: Points Representing Deviation - Pictures Given
It still works in NX-3 I checked it!
It works better that you take the center of a probe if you're using that type of measuring equipment. Otherwise you may find it easier to offset the surface you're checking against. The reason for my saying that is that a range of measured points may sit on either side of the surface that you wish to check. However if either the surface or the points are taken at around a 1mm offset then within the range of probable error you can take a minimum distance measurement that is always positive. My program subtracts the probe radius from the minimum distance measurement to produce a report in the listing window.
