predicting the forming limit diagram when sheet thickness changes

predicting the forming limit diagram when sheet thickness changes

(OP)
Hi,
I have the forming limit diagram (fld) data of a steel sheet with a thickness of 0.5 mm. However I need the fld data of 0.8 mm thick steel sheet. Is there any way to obtain this data using the fld of 0.5 steel sheet. Or is there any software to do this type of a calculation?

Thanks for your help

FLD shape remains the same but the FLD0 point will shift the curve up and down based on the n-value and gauge by the equation:

FLD0=(23.26+356.11*t)*(n/0.2116)

Lots of commercial software out there but it's easy enough to make your own spreadsheet and graph.  See also:

MSUKeith, thank you very much for your help. I searched the net but couldn't find a software about it. Could you please give me a software name for it? And also could you please show a source or something like that (book, etc..) for the equation that you suggested? it is very important for me.
Thanks

Just do a search by the diagrams other name - the Keeler-Goodwin Diagram.  Here is a good site:
http://www.me.mtu.edu/~mom/update

Dr.Stuart Keeler is still around and occasionally still gives seminars (highly recommended):

As far as software there is everything from advanced FEA code: AutoForm, Hyperform, Pamstamp, Dynaform; to hardware and software that helps perform actuial measurement: Camsys, FMTI,Argus; to simple reporting software: APQP Parts, EQS Star.

MSUKeith gave some good sources.
You may also what to see
http://www.eqsgroup.com/calculations.htm

where you can plug in n-value and thickness, and the FLCo calculation is done for you.

You will also find English-metric thickness and strength converters, among others.

Danny,

Welcome aboard, some good discussion here - lets do lunch.

RE: predicting the forming limit diagram when sheet thickness changes

Hi , i am quite new here this site.. and really in relation with FLD diagrams, :) i am trying to learn dynaform for simulating out of plane test and in plane test..

But first i have to learn thery of 'what FLD diagrams says exactly..'

I learned that it includes ;

-uniaxial tension,
-plane strain,
-bi axial stretching cases.

Can someone give me some document/info aobut all these tension-strain situations plss???
