listing nodes in contact

listing nodes in contact

(OP)
I want to list the nodes which are in contact or have penetration. I work in the Workbench Ansys 11 and just started using the possibility of commands. How do I list the nodes in contact or have penetration?

RE: listing nodes in contact

I sometimes use etables. For element CONTAC26 (no longer supported but still available:

ETABLE,gap,NMISC,3

then you can print using

PRETAB,gap

Rgrds

RE: listing nodes in contact

Hi,
easier: insert a "Contact Tool", then inside the CT insert a "Gap" result (or a "Penetration" one, or a "Status" one as you need). Then, right-click and "Export" to Excel.
In the "Tools -> Options", you can find somewhere you can make Ansys export, together with the results and node numbers, also the nodes' coordinates (only in the global cartesian CSYS, however).
Note: the contact reaction force / moment is not obtained inside the "Contact Tool": you have to insert "Probe -> Force / Moment Reaction" and choose "Contact Region" as the Location Method (WB will then want you to choose the contact region in the "Contact Region" drop-down list, and WARNING: this list includes ALL the contacts defined, also those you may have suppressed...).

Regards
