carbon steel pipe fittings

(OP)
On carbon steel pipe fittings, sizes like 2-1/2", 5" are this size normal? Someone told me this sizes are not normal and are not being use anymore. Is  this just for economic purposes? Why is this so?

RE: carbon steel pipe fittings

We normally purchase 2 1/2- inch fittings. 5-inch fittings are more difficult to procur but are available. We have had a few recent projects with 5-inch piping designed and have not had a major problem finding material.
