I have seen the following thread (thread256-190629: Strip footing / thickened edge slab) and I have been using this design proceedure for years -- but this is an iterative solution trying verious footing and slab lengths to offset the overturning moment.

20 years ago there was an DOS based SAI program called imono that did the iterations for you -- and checked the requirement for top steel.

Is there a more current program available for mono-footing design?
