Joist Girder top chord size
Joist Girder top chord size
(OP)
Hello all -
My question is concerning the width of the top chord of a joist girder. Is there any chart or table that would allow me to approximate the dimension of the top chord angle for a joist girder. I am trying to set a column line next to an existing building and want to make sure that there is enough clearence between the centerline of the joist girder and the existing wall. Any information would be helpful.
Thanks

I would plan for a little extra daylight using the calculated numbers just in case.
Or you can call a joist manufacturer. They'll want to know some specifics regarding loads, spans, etc. They'll calculate the joist dimensions.
