Security valve for direct discharge to atmosphere

Security valve for direct discharge to atmosphere

Security valve for direct discharge to atmosphere

(OP)
Hello, I've got a problem to evaluate if a flow rate of maximum 5.046m3/h of propane will develop a counterpressure higher than 1 or 1.5 bar when it's discharged directly towards atmosphere, through a security valve of 1.25" of discharge diameter and with a length of 1.5m at the end of a pipe. If so I would not be able to open the valve!!!

RE: Security valve for direct discharge to atmosphere

Diameter and schedule of 1.5 m pipe?  P and T at upstream end of pipe?  What is upstream of the pipe, a tank, a large header pipe?  K and diameter basis of K for the security valve?

Good luck,
Latexman

RE: Security valve for direct discharge to atmosphere

Please tell me that you made a mistake when you said "discharged directly towards atmosphere".

If not please tell me where this plant is so I will not buy a home near by.

RE: Security valve for direct discharge to atmosphere

What do you mean by "security valve"?

Good luck,
Latexman

RE: Security valve for direct discharge to atmosphere

I interpreted it to mean PSV.

RE: Security valve for direct discharge to atmosphere

I interpreted it to mean a 1/4 turn valve that has a "deadman" spring, self-locking mechanism with a release, or just drilled for a lock.

Good luck,
Latexman

laieta,

You are using some unconventional fluid flow terminology.  I recommend you obtain "Crane Technical Paper 410".  Not only will it help with conventional fluid flow terminology, it will help you solve your problem.  It is inexpensive, concise, and world renowned.  It is available in English or Metric for US$36 at www.tp410.com .  It may also be available at a used book website like Addall, Alibris, Amazon, and Powell.

Good luck,
Latexman
