PanelView 400 Plus Simple Stuff
PanelView 400 Plus Simple Stuff
(OP)
Tons of experience with older PVs and Panelbuilder32 software. Now...need to program a PV400 going on a CompactLogix system. Need to know (1) how to set up comms for the download (PV doesn't show up in Linx and can't find where to assign IP address if necessary), and (2) how to import the tags from my 5000 project. I have created am application in Studio ME...now I need to add tags and download. Rockwell sent me a link to a billion page manual...but what I really need is a quick-start list. Any help appreciated!!

RE: PanelView 400 Plus Simple Stuff
what version do you have? 4?
this is the bug for offline tag browsing, save you some pain. This is in the knowledgebase on ab website
R134340751 - RSLinx Enterprise 4.00.00 Patch for Offline Tag Browsing.
after checking this one
then go to Tools menu, Tag Import and grab your RSLogix5000 ACD file and follow the directions. This should work, if you get the patch updated above.
As far as ethernet setup, you have to set the IP from the front of the panelview initially. I always set it up as static, never messed with the dhcp auto or bootp stuff, so dont ask.
You should see it on RSlinx after this setup. Make sure to put in a gateway and mask if you want to remote support it.
have fun, but RSview Studio to me has been a pain in the but.

look for this tech note in the knowledgebase on ab website
A109544732 - how to configure a shortcut off-line in review me.
its convoluted but its their way. This should be how to use your ACD plc file to grab your tags created.
RE: PanelView 400 Plus Simple Stuff
There are two RSlinx Enterprise configurations, one is for your off-line development, which allows you to download to the PV+ for testing, and also set the path to the .ACD file.
There is also a target configuration which represents the path as seen by the PV+, that becomes part of the application downloaded to the Panelview.
