Printing Break Lines

Printing Break Lines

Ok, having a bad mind blanking day. Anybody remember how to keep break lines from printing in a drawing?

N/M, blank brain kicked back in.

RE: Printing Break Lines

Why would you not want them to print?
There was a fix a couple years a go so they would print.

We were just eliminating some dead space on a print for the assemblers on the shop floor. All they care about is that the parts are in the right relative placement and that the descriptions of the parts are correct. Insert the break lines and they'll have me down on the floor asking me "What the f*@$ are these lines on this print?" It wouldn't be the first time that we've included some standard symbol or practice that just caused confusion. I don't think I've had a more interesting discussion with the production staff than when we first started calling out shaft CL on a print that was to go to the assemblers and the customer. The customer needed to know the CL but the  assemblers could care less.

RE: Printing Break Lines

I will never leave anything off a dwg because someone doesn't understand it, as long as it's per standards.
IMO, they should be forced to learn it.
Good luck to you. ;)

I've had that opinion since I started here, but cramming some ideas down managements throat has been an exercise in futility. Must mean they're good ideas, right?

RE: Printing Break Lines

lol
Yes, true.
Been there, but I do it until they get it.

Just trying to change one thing at a time. Eventually they'll learn that I am right.
