Help needed! Reinforced Concrete Walls in cyclic loading

Help needed! Reinforced Concrete Walls in cyclic loading

Help needed! Reinforced Concrete Walls in cyclic loading

(OP)
Hi to all!

I'm trying to model a cyclic loading of a Reinforced Concrete Wall (RCW) using ABAQUS/EXPLICIT. I have several questions i would like to ask:

1) Is it correct to define the cyclic loading defining different steps of loading alternatively?  i.e. 20 KN in the 1st step, -20 KN the 2nd step.

2) If I'm defining an imposed displacement as loading type, I'm having a local failure of the element (large distortions of the finite element). I assume is related to the load ratio  in time, but I'm not really sure.

Thank you
