That's quite an OOPS!  I hope their insurance is paid up.  Any idea where this occurred?

RE: Water Tank Settlement

(OP)
Jackson County, Kentucky is what I was told.

RE: Water Tank Settlement

Looks like they have another tourist attraction, a very large cavern.

When I first opened the picture I said to myself that this looks like something I saw many years ago when a similar fate overtook several very expensive houses. The houses were built over some abandoned galleries that collapsed. They had been warned by the water well driller that there were cavities underneath the houses.

RE: Water Tank Settlement

A quote from a few of the articles, "The soil underneath and surrounding the water tower was considered unsafe, so crews used torches on 20-foot handles to light the areas where the tank was attached to the concrete foundation. Even then, the tank didn't topple, said Mike Braden"

Good lighting is important!!! Does anyone read these articles?

RE: Water Tank Settlement

Maybe "to light" is the phraseology they use in central Kentucky.  I used to work in coastal Georgia at a chemical plant, and I heard lots of peculiar terms used by the construction crews there.  Maybe someone out there can en"light"en us (sorry - couldn't resist).
