ENR Article stirs up designers

ENR Article stirs up designers

(OP)
Apparently, the AGC has issued a new set of contract documents for use in the construction industry.  A description of the documents (and specifically those involved in creating them) can be found here:

Some other links to their release:

But when published in ENR recently, there was a stern letter to the editor from AIA, ASCE, NSPE and ACEC complaining that ENR implied that “designers” were heavily involved in creating these documents.  Find the letter to the editor here:

Here’s the ENR author’s response:

RE: ENR Article stirs up designers

I had read the article in ENR and it certainly seemed to say everyone but the architect's were on board.  Glad to see this clarified.  I wonder if the letter will actually make the magazine.

RE: ENR Article stirs up designers

quote from the home page of enr.construction.com:

"ENR covers the news of the construction industry from concept to collapse and everything in between."

It seems that ENR (engineering news record) should be renamed to CNR as they seem to be catering a lot more to contractors than to engineers...

RE: ENR Article stirs up designers

I have read ENR since 1987 and there is no doubt it is a magazine for contractors.  I read it for the articles.

What contractor writes contract documents?
