Tolerance on Arc Length
Tolerance on Arc Length
(OP)
Hi All-
I'm wondering if there is any kind of odd tolerance scheme referring to an arc length. My first instinct is to treat it as a linear value and tolerance accordingly, but I want to make sure there isn't anything I'm missing. I looked through the forums, and couldn't find anything on this.
Any and all help is appreciated.
Thanks,

I take it you are trying to apply tolerances on the drawing?
Look up Profile tolerances. These handle weirdness far better than linear +/- tolerances.

You said in another post that you work to ASME Y14.5M-1994, take a look at 1.8.3/fig 1.26 and then look at the first few pages of Section 2
If it's a more complex shape or similar then drawoh makes a good point.
