ANSYS DesignModeler

ANSYS DesignModeler

ANSYS DesignModeler

(OP)
I used to use traditional ANSYS GUI to build, solve, and postprocess the results. Now I have Workbench and also DesignModeler installed on my computer. DesignModeler seems to be very fancy but I am not sure if it is easy to learn and whether or not it can replace the traditional GUI preprocessor. I need to build some structural bridge models and they are basically shell elements. But I do need to use submodeling at some point to check local stresses.

Any comments? Suggestions? Thanks!

RE: ANSYS DesignModeler

Design Modeler is great for tricky 3D geometry that needs some cleanup when going between the CAD package and Ansys.  Functionally it isn't that hard to learn but I think would be awkward for what you desire to do.  For your purposes I'd stick with Ansys.  That's just me though.
