Acad14 Printer Port closed??

Acad14 Printer Port closed??

Acad14 Printer Port closed??

(OP)
Autocad 14, Windows XP Pro, HP Notebook 800 PIII, 256 ram, HP Designjet 330 plotter connected to LPT1.
When I try to print to the HP DesignJet 330 I get the following error:

"The operating system detected the following error(s) on LPT1. Plotter disabled. *Cannot open port."

The plot never prints. I have the latest HP designjet print drivers installed (XP compatable) and the Acad Phantom OLE/ADI drivers. I used to have Windows ME in this computer before I installed XP Pro (full install, NOT an upgrade) and it worked fine.

If I go to the printer properties, I can print a test page and if I make the HP DJ330 the "default Printer" it will work (setting up the paper size and pens is next to impossible so this is not a solution).

I don't think this is part of the problem but my filing system is "FAT32".

Thanks for any help!!!!

PROBLEM SOLVED!!! I figured it out myself. For some reason I had changed the compatability (right click desktop icon) from "none" to "Windows 95/98". I switched it back to "none" and it now plots like a champ!!

RE: Acad14 Printer Port closed??

I'm having a similar problem with a QMS printer, ACAD R14 and Windows XP.  But I can't quite understand your solution or if it might work for me.

Go to your "Autocad 14" icon on your desktop. Right click on it and pick "properties", then pick the "Compatibility" tab. Make sure the box next to "run this progran in compatibility mode for:" is NOT checked.

Mine was "checked" and set to "win 98/me" and that was causing my ploting problem. It also would not let me copy and paste from one drawing to another, it would open a new drawing when I would try to paste.

Hope this helps,

JC
