Pig Catchers
Pig Catchers
(OP)
We are a gas transmission/distribuiton Company in Alaska. We have made some homemade pig catchers to catch our squeegee pigs and have blown the end out in some pretty dramatic fashions the last couple of runs. Does anyone have a good source for pig catcher designs or a design that has worked very well for them? Any suggestions? We were thinking of dropping an I-Beam in the end of our catcher for the pig to ram into but haven't given it a great deal of thought, simply ran through my mind that this would be a good place to ask the question.
Thanks in advance for your comments.

If you blow out this one, you need pipeline op training. It won't be a launcher/receiver construction problem.

RE: Pig Catchers
If it is a CFR pipeline, read CFR Title 49, Part 192.

Maybe some more info specifically concerning Alaska state regulations might be found here. I'll let you check that.

RE: Pig Catchers
At least put a valve (probably not a ball valve) on that hole.
