Autocad 2008 annoying zoom problem

Autocad 2008 annoying zoom problem

Autocad 2008 annoying zoom problem

(OP)
Using "plan" or "View" makes the camera zoom out so far i cant see the model.  I have to zoom back in 5 times to be able to see anything.  This is a problem because I work with 3d and have to rest my view often, wasting time because I have to zoom back in.

Ive tried setting "limits" and zooming extents and the problem still occurs.  The drawing consists mainly of 3d blocks, conveyor sections.

The system is a Dell optiplex GX620
Pentium D 2.8GHZ
3.5Gb RAM
Windows XP home edition SP2
Radeon x600

Ive upgraded from 2006; before, I had no problem.  I cant go back to 2006.
Im using direct x video because 2008 doesnt support this videocard.  The drawing is SSI so Im not able to send it for anyone to look at.

Thanks for any help.

The UCSFOLLOW variable setting?

RE: Autocad 2008 annoying zoom problem

(OP)
UCSFOLLOW is set to 0

RE: Autocad 2008 annoying zoom problem

I've had the same problem.  I've just started toying with the 3D capabilities of autocad for use with hydracad to design fire sprinkler systems and when I go into the "fly" mode it requires it to change to "perspective view" and throws me a million miles to the southeast.  I have no idea why this does this.  UCSfollow is also set to 0 in my setup.

RE: Autocad 2008 annoying zoom problem

Where is 0,0,0 ?  Where is the drawing's "base point" ?

RE: Autocad 2008 annoying zoom problem

(OP)
Civil engineers sometimes use state coordinates, where 0,0 is some absolute point on the State.  This makes for huge coordinate values.
