Joining Professional Organizations

(OP)
I'm a civil engineer, just obtained my PE license.  I've started thinking a bit more about my career goals, and feel that joining a professional organization could be a great benefit.  I do have interest in starting my own business and figure that this would be a good way to start networking to build a potential client base.  I'm thinking ASCE would be a good one to get involved in.  Anyone, particularly civils, have some advice or input on how useful these types of organizations can be?

Thanks

RE: Joining Professional Organizations

If you just earned your PE, consider joining NSPE.
