Importing features into a part

Importing features into a part

Importing features into a part

(OP)
I am trying to import a feature into a pro/e part, but I am not sure if it can be done. I want to take computer plug and insert it into the pro/e part and have it imbeds itself into the part. Can this be done?

Thanks!

RE: Importing features into a part

In part mode, you can use -

insert -> shared data -> from file

and then browse to the location of the part you want to insert. It will appear in the model tree as an import feature amongst all of the other features.
I have used it sucessfully with an IGES file, but not tried any of the others.

RE: Importing features into a part

You may want to add a Datum Co-ordinate System prior to your importing of the plug.. will make it a little easier to move around... step is fine also.

RE: Importing features into a part

and it doesn't really matter if you have the orientation correct to begin with ..

as you can edit definition and then select the orientation tab and flip your references to have the plug face in the direction it's needed
