Coating for steel connections in precast concrete

Coating for steel connections in precast concrete

I am looking for a product to use to coat welded steel plate connections in precast concrete that will be exposed to the weather (hot/cold/rain/snow).  The concern is that the plates may oxidize and the resulting rust may drip onto decorative elements.  The client wants something "better" than our standard paint spec of Devguard Structural Primer and Enamel.

Any suggestions?
(I also posted this in the corrosion forum.)

Hot dip galvanise the embedments.  For site repair at welds, etc. use a zinc filled epoxy coating.

I agree with hokie.

Along with the galvanized connections, you also need to make sure that the main members that are being connected are also galvanized. If not, the coated and the uncoated elements will cause the corrosion to accelerate.

The structure is already in place.

Epoxy, (two part), paint has a good length of life.  Surface prep is controlling in successful application.

Do you have a favorite manufacturer?

Porter, Carboline, Tnemec, and on and on if you are in the US.

Thanks, I'll look into those.
