small bore valve info

small bore valve info

small bore valve info

(OP)
I need some basic info on small bore welded valves.

I thought the typical end connection would be socket weld and the body would be forged.  ratings types are limited.  some vendors have 600 and 1500 while others may have 800 and 1680.

now lets say I need butt welded.
would the bodies be cast?
would small bore butt weld valves come in a wider range of ratings (150, 300, 600, etc)?

thanks
Mark

RE: small bore valve info

Mark   ...My experience butt weld end valves are normal a forging in sizes 2" and above, especially in the 600# and above ratings. BUT the lower end ratings could be a casting ...similar to fittings like elbows and tees, which you normally weld too.
Just a point, you do realize that socket weld ends and butt weld ends are NOT the same thing!??
