Blocks in layer will not hide 2008

Help..
I have inherited a drawing made by numerous people over many years. It has had numerous sections imported into it. (Shop building drawing). There are now some 40 layers and my goal is to incorporate and reduce these to something logical.
But..one of my problems is that "some" blocks of furniture will move into the layer.. but then not hide when the rest of the layer does..
How?.. can I change this behavior.
Many thanks
Ralph

RE: Blocks in layer will not hide 2008

My guess is that the blocks were created with entities on different layers. Look here for Fixblock.lsp, the routine will redefine the blocks so all entities are on layer 0, color byblock.

Thank you. That did the trick. And thanks for the link.. will spend some time there looking at some of the other routines.
