Why is 416 s.s not included in ASTM A276-02a?

(OP)
I'm looking for mechanical properties per ASTM standards and have not found 416 to be included in A276-02a. Any one know why or if I'm totally overlooking were it is? I noticed it being referenced in A582A/582M for chemical composition but thats it. If anyone knows were to find it, please let me know.. Thanks in advance

RE: Why is 416 s.s not included in ASTM A276-02a?

In answer to the question from the post's title, 416 stainless is not included in ASTM A 276 because it is a free-machining grade, and all of these are standardized in ASTM A 582.  The real question is why does ASTM A 582 not include mechanical properties.  The answer to that is that free-machining grades can have poor uniformity of properties, and low repeatability from one lot to the next, and these alloys typically are used in non-critical applications, so hardness was determined to be sufficient characterization for this material.
