Determine edge and center uplift qustion

Determine edge and center uplift qustion

Determine edge and center uplift qustion

Help, I'm trying to determine edge and center uplift on a silty sand that is very saturated.

The project will be pt slab-on-grade. The literature I can find isn't very explicit about these uplifts with respect to sandy soils. There's very little plasticity, I think one test out 20 had any PI, and it was 17. THanks

RE: Determine edge and center uplift qustion

What is the load pattern on the slab?

They will be two story residential wood framed condos, we aren't designing the slab, we just need to provide uplift values to the slab designers

thanks

RE: Determine edge and center uplift qustion

Are you asking about uplift due to wind or what?

Soil edge uplift and center uplift, nothing to do with seismic or wind, I'm just looking for an analytical way to find the edge and center uplifts values based on a soils report already performed to provide to the structural engineer designing the PT slab. There is a rational analysis for clayey soils but nothing I can find for saturated sandy soils. Again, this isn't a structural question, it's a geotech one.

Thanks again
