Groyne design

Groyne design

(OP)
Hello there.
I have to design a timber groyne but with steel piles near a river. What i have to know? The timber that i will use will be hardwood, probably greenheart. is there any document or book to help me in the groyne design?

RE: Groyne design

Communicate with authorities prior to planning. The Corp of Engineers regulates the waters of the US.  Groynes are known to degrade rivers and protect ocean shores.

RE: Groyne design

I would contact:
Derrick, David L ERDC-CHL-MS [David.L.Derrick@erdc.usace.army.mil]
David is very knowledgeable in this area and may have some valuable advise.
