Coil Break Defect in Cold-Rolled Steel

Coil Break Defect in Cold-Rolled Steel

(OP)
Dear all,

Recently we are facing several coil-break defects in our Skin Pass Mill. We were told that the discharge temperature from our Batch Anneallers is too high. However, it was maintained within below 40degC, yet we still found coil break at random coils. Uncoiling speed at SPM is already near to its maximum (especially for thick gauge strip). In addition, we dont have S-roll in our SPM, just deflector roll prior to work-roll. Could it be that the uncoiling angle being too high, which cause the coil-break? Thanks for your replies
