Nonlinear push-over analysis (software/reading)

Nonlinear push-over analysis (software/reading)

(OP)
Is Nonlinear SAP200 (v.8 2004) a good software for doing nonlinear push-over analysis for RC moment frame bldgs?

I know that this version has the capability of doing this analysis. Is there anybody out there who has done this analysis with SAP and is there any suggestion/encountered difficulty?

I am quite familiar with SAP but It's the first time that I am going to perform such an analysis. Do you have any suggested reading material regarding push-over analysis on the web?

Thank you so much

RE: Nonlinear push-over analysis (software/reading)

Let me first say that I have not done a nonlinear pushover.

That said, it is an interest of mine and I think Ductile Design of Steel Structures is a decent book on the subject.  As far as what software to use, I know that SAP and its ability to create plastic hinges is ideal for such purpose and is often used for pushover analysis.  I suppose your version of SAP may save you some work since it includes geometric nonlinearity, but regular SAP would be fine as well.

That book was by Michael Bruneau, btw
