Research Papers/Knowledge

(OP)
Hi all,

Im a recent grad and just landed a new job.  I am always looking to keep learning and moving forward.  My job is realated somewhat to test engineering and  I was wondering where I could find some good research papers or documents that could potentially be helpful.  Im not specifically looking for test engineering knowledge, maybe some things on circuit design, and some things that are known in the real world work place that you don't really learn about in class.

I don't really know exactly what I'm looking for here but as I spend more time at my place of work the more I realize just how little I have actually learned during my years at school.   That was just the tip of the iceberg.

I don't think what Im looking for is really the most intricate and high tech theories but more along the lines of common sense in the workplace ie. how to select capacitor values for filtering powerline noise, resevoir caps, and thigns of that nature.

Maybe there aren't so much documentation on this stuff but I'd appreciate a tip on where to start looking.

Thanks All, cheers

RE: Research Papers/Knowledge

Get a copy of "The Art of Electronics", by Paul Horowitz and Winfield Hill (ISBN 0521370957). Every electronic tech's bookshelf should have one.

RE: Research Papers/Knowledge

Amateur (or Ham) Radio books and magazines are often a goldmine of down-to-earth electronics information. Google your way to ARRL (USA), RAC (Canada), and RSGB (UK). Local ham radio flea markets or radio stores can build your library of these sorts of books and magazines.

Try MIT open course.com

RE: Research Papers/Knowledge

I think this site is a real asset.  IEEE membership, and especially certain chapters, is also a fantastic resource.
