Low Voltage Arc Resistant Motor Control Centers

(OP)
Hello,

Could you please advise whether there are any type tested Low voltage arc resistant motor control centers available in U.S. market?

It seems that LV MCC's has not been type tested yet since there is no standard applicable to LV MCC arc resistant design and just the manufacturer's internal testing might be made for their LV MCC's.

Any advice would be help me to understand market situation.

Thanks in advance.

RE: Low Voltage Arc Resistant Motor Control Centers

Hi Sykimk

At present there is no recognized standard for manufacturing and testing of LV Arc Resistant MCCs, however, Eaton Cutler-Hammer has released a MCC design called FlashGard. This design mitigates Arc Flash Hazard by introducing preventive measure like remotely rackable buckets, insulated bus bars, finger-safe terminal blocks etc. Google for "Eaton FlashGard" and you will find interesting details.
I hope it helps!

RE: Low Voltage Arc Resistant Motor Control Centers

There are no arc-resistant MCCs offered in the US that I'm aware of.
